GScan is thrilled to be announced as the winner in the Innovation in Bridge Inspection category at the prestigious New Civil Engineer (NCE) Bridge Awards. The award recognizes GScan's revolutionary application of high-resolution muon tomography and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the structural assessment of post-tensioned bridges, a core component of the National Highways Structures Moonshot Programme, led by AtkinsRéalis and Jacobs.
The winning project showcased a truly transformative approach to infrastructure health monitoring. The judges were particularly impressed with the introduction of GScan’s unique, AI-driven MuonFlux Technology as a game-changing non-destructive testing (NDT) method with a unique ability to scan at depth in concrete structures. The award was presented by Sajjad Akbar from Pell Frischmann at the gala ceremony.

Judges' Citation: "The judges found that this truly exciting project introduced a game-changing, non-destructive testing method using naturally occurring muons. This eliminates the need for x-rays, enhancing health and safety, with promising long-term potential for structural integrity assessment."
This success was made possible with the strong collaborative effort with key industry leaders and partners, including National Highways Leader, Colin George (for visionary leadership and support), as well as Chris Mundell and Shams Ghazy, PhD from AtkinsRéalis..
This recognition marks a pivotal moment for GScan's technology, which has gained considerable traction in recent months.
GScan accepts this award as a mandate to accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge solutions, with a growing pipeline of scanning bridges in the UK and EU.
