Developing a large-scale Muon Flux Technology (MFT) based scanner system for 20ft sea containers and other objects of suitable volume

Grant: EU Horizon 2020, “SilentBorder”

Period: 01.05.2021 - 30.04.2025

Related solutions: μFLUX Medium,  μFLUX Large

Cost of contract: US$ 7.5M

Partners: The University of Tartu, German Aerospace Centre (DLR), CAEN, the University of Sheffield, UCLouvain, SGS, Estonian, Finnish and Turkish customs.

Description: “SilentBorder” develops and validates an iteration of GScan’s revolutionary 3D-scanning system, focusing on objects with a maximum volume of 20ft sea containers. The large-scale system’s applications are predominantly in customs, security and frictionless trade. The goal is to develop a system that would be faster, safer, cost effective, easier to use and significantly more capable (precision, accuracy, additional features such as chemical analysis) than the currently used x-ray based solutions.
